"Anything that's human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary." — Fred Rogers
I'm Margaret, a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC). I graduated with honors from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, where I developed a deep appreciation for the healing power of genuine human connection.
I approach therapy through an existential lens, believing that each of us possesses an inner wisdom that can guide us toward healing, resilience, and growth. Sometimes life's experiences make it difficult to access that wisdom, leaving us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about our path forward. Together, we can slow down, make meaning of your experiences, and reconnect with the strengths that already exist within you.
I believe healing happens in relationship. When we feel genuinely understood and accepted, we often discover the courage to explore the parts of ourselves we've kept hidden—even from ourselves. My approach is relational, collaborative, and grounded in genuine interest and respect for your unique story. I strive to create a space where you feel deeply seen, heard, and valued, allowing us to explore even the most vulnerable parts of your experience with openness and care.
I work with individuals navigating parenting challenges, relationship concerns, and questions surrounding sexuality and intimacy. I offer LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy, providing a safe and supportive environment for LGBTQIA+ clients, people in polyamorous and ethically non-monogamous (ENM) relationships, and anyone seeking sex-positive, shame-free support. I believe every person deserves a place where they can show up fully and explore who they are without needing to hide or apologize for any part of themselves.
My work is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS), and somatic approaches. These modalities help us attend not only to your thoughts and emotions but also to the wisdom held within your body, your relationships, and the different parts of yourself that have developed to help you navigate life. Together, we'll cultivate greater self-awareness, psychological flexibility, and self-compassion so that you can move toward a life that feels authentic, connected, and aligned with your values.
Seeking therapy is a courageous step, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they discover greater clarity, self-understanding, and a more meaningful way of living. My hope is that our work together helps you deepen your trust in yourself, embrace your humanity with kindness, and create a life that reflects who you truly are.
Depression, anxiety, and relationship challenges can significantly impact mental well-being. Issues such as post-partum disorders, identity formation, and understanding sexuality and gender identities are crucial areas for exploration. Family of origin topics can also play a significant role in these dynamics. For those navigating non-traditional relationships, such as consensual non-monogamy (C/ENM) or polyamory, therapy options like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Internal Family Systems therapy can provide valuable support. Additionally, seeking LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy ensures that all identities are respected and validated in the therapeutic process.
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems therapy), CBT/DBT, depth work, attachment styles, and sex-positive approaches are integrated within a framework that is LGBTQIA+ affirming. Our practices also respect C/ENM/Poly relationships and are trauma-informed.
